Hey, guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Gen-Y Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel Kingpin. Now the biggest difference between this kingpin and the factory one that might be on your 5th wheel is that these are going to have rubber torsion springs built into the head so that when you're going over those bumps or you start to get some chucking when you're going down the road, this is designed to help absorb most of that. You're still gonna have a little bit of it. What I've had experience with I've got one of these on my trailer. I actually have the gooseneck version but what I have seen happen is that the chucking will start and this will eliminate it almost immediately. more

Listen, if you're looking for an effective way to increase your comfort when you're traveling this summer, then check out the CURT air ride fifth wheel pin box that we installed on our 2021 Highland Ridge Open Range fifth wheel. Now, right off the bat, I'll let you know that the CURT here is gonna replace your pin box, if it's a 1621 or a 1621HD, this is gonna be the replacement for you. If you're considering a replacement pin box, this really, in my opinion, is the way to go. Immediately you're gonna see the air ride that's on it. There's a reason that over the road trucks are running air ride and not spring ride anymore. more

Hey guys, Kevin here with etrailer and today we'll be showing you how to install the MORryde Cushioned Fifth Wheel Pin Box here on our 2018 Highland Ridge, Mesa Ridge Lite, fifth wheel trailer. So if you have a standard pin box and you experience a whole lot of front to back chucking a whole lot of road vibration, let's face it, roads in America aren't paved with gold like they used to be. Kind of like our back parking lot here. It does cause a whole lot of road vibration and shock which ends up pushing it up onto your trailer, hurting the suspension of your trailer, putting strain on the mounting ears of your pin box. And then also it travels forward into your tow vehicle putting more strain on the fifth wheel hitch, wearing it down quicker, and then also wrecking the suspension on your tow vehicle. So to solve that, MORryde came up with the cushioned pin box, which has rubber dampeners in it to kind of eat up some of that road vibration and shock, and all that front to back chucking. more

Curt Flex Air 5th Wheel Pin Box Installation - 2007 Starcraft Homestead Lite Fifth Wheel- Video
Hey everybody, how's it going Today, we're gonna be going over and showing you how to install the Curt Flex Air 5th Wheel Pin Box, here on our 2007 StarCraft Homestead. So, a standard pin box on your trailer, isn't gonna have the pivoting head, it's not gonna have a built-in strut and it's not gonna have an airbag. Now, you're probably thinking, why do we need all this So I wouldn't say it's a requirement, but your standard pin boxes, they're basically gonna be transferring all the road shocks, when we hit a pothole, we're going over some bumps in the road, everything is gonna be transferred directly to the vehicle and you're gonna be feeling all those bumps in the road. It's actually gonna rely on the vehicle suspension and partly the trailer suspension. But when you add a cushioning mechanism between the truck and the trailer here, this thing is gonna absorb all that road shock there, so we're not gonna be transferring it to our vehicle. So overall, it's gonna be making our ride that much more pleasurable, and it's also gonna help maintain our 5th wheel trailer here, because it's not gonna be rattling around as much. more

And today, we're gonna be taking a look at the MORryde Rubber Pin Box for a fifth wheel trailer that's cushioned on a 2021 Forest River Cherokee Arctic Wolf. So this pin box is a direct replacement and it's designed to replace the Lippert Rhino Box. So you'll actually see later on, we do a driving test between the two, and you're gonna see them both in action. Now, this does have a lot of nice features that really sets this above the Rhino Box itself. more

We're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Trailair Rota-Flex 5th wheel pin box. Our pin box does offer us an 18,000 pound weight capacity. This is going to be really good for those mid-range campers, but it's always a good idea to make sure that your truck is capable of pulling 18,000 pounds.What really sets our Rota-Flex pin box apart from the others on the market and your standard pin boxes is going to be this pivoting head. So this whole thing is going to move and shift whenever we hit bumps, or turning, or anything like that. more

Hi there fifth-wheel owners. Today in your 2017 Grand Design Solitude, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install Reese's fifth airborne kingpin. If you've ever been towing your fifth-wheel trailer, and you feel that up and down bouncing motion, that's chucking. Well, this is going to help minimize that using the air ride coupler inside, that's going to dampen those vibrations and oscillations, so you don't feel it nearly as much inside. And it also transfers back and helps minimize that in your trailer. Here on the inside you can see our dampening shock, as well as our airbag. more

Hi there, camp runners. Today on our 2001 Coachmen Catalina, we're going to be installing Reese's 5th Airborne Sidewinder. If you have a short bed truck, and you want to haul a 5th wheel, the big issue that you're going to run into is the cab of your truck can potentially come into contact with your 5th wheel trailer when performing hard turns. The sidewinder will position your pin box further rearward keeping it further away from your cab, and will also move the pivoting point further rearward. Our pivoting point is now located right here underneath our wing, where it attaches, and the king pin is now here at the front of our sidewinder, giving us much more clearance so we don't have to worry anymore about turning too tight, and creaming the cab of our truck.Another unique feature is the onboard airbag in our thin box. The airbag will help eliminate vibrations and stress on the frame of your 5th wheel trailer, and it will also help provide a smoother ride going down the road. more

Reese Sidewinder with Rotating Turret Installation - 2019 Forest River Sabre Fifth Wheel- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2019 Forest River Sabre fifth wheel, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Reese sidewinder fifth wheel kingpin with rotating turret, part number RP61420. Now whenever we're doing fifth wheel towing with a truck that has less than an eight foot bed, typically we're going to have some clearance issues. The front of our fifth wheel is going to want to make contact with the cab whenever we make a sharp turn.Well that's where our sidewinder's going to come into play. It's going to move the pivot point from the pin itself right here. It's going to move it all the way back to where our pin box mounts. So we're going to have a full 22 inches of extra clearance and it's all going to be done because of this capture plate here and the rotating turret.Before we put the sidewinder in, you can see we did have a little bit of an issue where our camper came up and hit the side of our truck. more

Reese 5th Airborne Premium 5th Wheel King Pin Installation - 2017 Northwood Arctic Fox- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Northwood Arctic Fox we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the 5th Airborne Premium Fifth Wheel Air Ride and King Pin with Sidewinder and Turret, part number RP61422. Here's what our Airborne Sidewinder looks like once we have it installed. This is not only going to replace our king pin, but it's also going to give us a rotating turret, which is going to allow us to make a lot tighter of turns. Instead of the pivot point being at the king pin, it's going to moving back an extra 22 inches, which is going to allow us a lot more maneuverability and allow us to make up to 90 degree turns.So in the case of a short bed pick up truck, this is going to allow us to make those extra tight turns without having to get out, flip any switches, or install a slider in the back of our bed. This is also going to have the trailer track more closely to our truck, giving us better maneuverability. It does have a fully enclosed air bag which is going to reduce chucking by up to 60%, and the vertical load shock by up to 44%, which that not only is going to give us a better ride, but it's also going to take the wear and tear off of the frame of our coach as well as keep the contents inside nice and secure.Now, our airbag is easily adjusted with these two bolts, and the general rule of thumb is the lighter the tongue weight, then the closer to the front that we're going to have those bolts, and the heavier the tongue weight, the further back they're going to be. more
